Axel Wirtz

 Axel Wirtz (31) is club-DJ since 1992. He always used to be a big fan of the electronic music from e.g. Depeche Mode or Ministry 81-84 until he was deeply involved into the upcoming acid house and techno underground scene in the beginning of the nineties. At first playing in bars and clubs in and around Hamburg, Axel becomes resident DJ at the legendary Unit club in Hamburg in 1995. Around the same time he starts working for Superstition Recordings as Junior A&R (in cooperation with Tobias Lampe) and head of promotion. In July 2002 he moves to Berlin to start as A&R and PM at Polydor/Zeitgeist.

In the years to follow he plays all over Germany and in different countries e.g. Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Holland, Poland, Mexico, China (Hong Kong) etc. The sound he performs reaches from dubby & minimal tech-house to energetic tribal techno style mixed with a touch of progressive trance. Since 1996 Axel Wirtz is into music production as well: Together with Oliver Lieb he founded the project "Tiefenrausch" on Lieb´s former label Ellipse Rec. The project S-A-S (together with Sören Schnakenberg aka Stereo Jack) comes to existence in 2000. Their first 12inch (S-A-S: "From The Inside"/Superstition 2133) is released in autumn 2001.
